In 1994 the Japanese footballer signed a contract with Genoa, becoming the first Japanese player to play in Italy, his adventure with Grifone lasted only one season during which he came to light only on one occasion, On 4 December 1994, Sampdoria scored a goal in the derby, which is why fans on both sides will remember him, for the record Sampdoria won the 3-2 Derby.


On 12 March 2017, at 50 years and 14 days, he scored the goal that won the Yokohama 1-0 against Thespa Kusatsu, confirming himself as the oldest scorer of a professional football league in the history of football. ù

In 2018, he became the longest-serving player in professional football, surpassing English goalkeeper Kevin Poole, who retired from football at 51 in 2014.
